I keep thinking I will start blogging again...if I could do a little bit at a time, then it would not seem so overwhelming. Check back tomorrow to see if I keep my word this time...I am ridiculous...If it makes anyone feel any better I am just still trying to get it together. Last night as our day was winding down I realized my shirt looked weird....turns out I had worn it backwards all day. Nice. This morning I put desitin on my toothbrush...the great news is the diaper rash in my mouth is gone.:)
As Tony and I try to reorganize our life as a family of 5 we are noticing little things that we have let slip in the past couple of months...Like, explaining why we expect a certain behavior...Everyone likes someone that is kind...so sometimes we just say to the boys...BE KIND and they are and they move on...But as of late we are trying to call ourselves back to "the why" of why we do things...We are kind boys, because we want our hearts to look like Jesus...We want people to see us as different from everyone else...we don't just want good behavior (Though some days that feels like enough) we want to raise hearts that are committed to the Lord and His ways.
With that in mind the other day on the way to school the boys got into some verbal battle. I got them quiet and said...Guy's come on. We have talked about this...
Mom: Benjamin why do we want to be kind to each other?
Benjamin: Becasue we want to look like Jesus and he was kind.
Mom: Payton, when was Jesus kind? (In my head I am thinking the only response he couls give will be all the time mom)
Payton: Well, if I have listened to the stories correctly, it seems like it was almost always in the afternoon.
He then went on to give examples of Jesus mostly working with the apostles...in the afternoon.

That is a productive time of day, so I guess it makes sense. :) Love the stories of your kiddos!
I will have to remember this when I have kids. I think it's great that you explain why! Always good to see a post from you. I don't know how you manage everything...I can't even keep things together and it's just me and Tim :)!
Thank you Lord, for giving Becky ideas accompanied by this little bit of time to post these words of the wisdom of a mother who is dedicated to You as she works along side her husband and Your son, Tony, to create a home that is dedicated to You and to bringing You the glory as her words bless the lives of her readers. Please keep Payton, Benj, Eden, Becky and Tony safe and healthy. In Jesus name, this prayer of thanksgiving and blessing is offered, Amen.
Thank you for that sweet reminder! We are struggling with 2-year-old behavior issues right now that can seem overwhelming. Thanks for the laugh, too - it reminded me of a day when Maelie was little and I took my shirt off at the end of the day and took time to count how many different substances were on it - drool, snot, cereal, not sure, etc. (I probably won't ever do that again!)
No matter how often (or not) you post, just please keep posting. I love your stories - and your honesty. Keep on keepin' on...cause that's what Jesus did, too! :)
Dude, you have some hilarious kids! So precious.
Becky, you are doing a great job and it is so evident that the love of our God is being taught to your children through you and Tony. As always, thank you for sharing.
When I was a child, back in the Dark Ages, the arrival of Reader's Digest was high point of my month. (Yes, I lived in a very small town with roll-up sidewalks.)I loved the funny stories in "Laughter's the Best Medicine." I don't know if that section is still published but your blog is proof that laughter is really good medicine. I never fail to laugh and be renewed and I never fail to give thanks for godly parents like Tony and you. Be blessed.
I am usually happier in the afternoon after a good nap, so I am sure Jesus feels the same way.
I am glad to see you on here again. Your stories always provide me with a good laugh and some great inspiration.
I guess you can look forward to kind afternoons at your house!
Oh, Becky! You have to keep posting as the laughter I receive- sometimes at your expense- is medicine for the soul!

Oh how I relate to this post. I'm wondering how long it will be before I "get it together" because I see it nowhere in the near future. Have you seen the last time I blogged? January. Thanks for the reminder to focus on the hearts of my children and the "why's" of our expectations. :) Praise God for His grace and that His mercies are new every morning and thank Him for these precious little gifts in our lives!!
I get a good chuckle reading your blog. It's great!!
I can so understand things slipping.....I think it gets worse with more kids, be warned!! :)
I also am encouraged by how you raise your kids with so much Jesus :) I love it!!
